6. Helen

Get a taste of Germany right here in Georgia by visiting Helen, Ga! While this is a further day trip to take from Thomasville than many others, it’s well worth it! Spend the day at Lanier Islands water park and spa or visit Don Carter State Park for hiking, biking, or picnicking. 

8. Cumberland Island 

Catch a ferry to visit Cumberland Island National Seashore, Georgia’s southernmost barrier island. Here, you’ll discover nearly 10,000 acres of protected wilderness and 17-plus miles of secluded beaches. If you’re a historian, you’ll love visiting the Plum Orchard Mansion or the Dungeness Ruins
